Meet Angie & Ken
Two musicians, two musical backgrounds, and one shared love of playing songs people know and enjoy.
Duo Cadence is Angie and Ken, bringing together vocals, guitar, keyboards and bass to create a warm, relaxed sound with plenty of personality.
What matters most to us is connecting with the people in front of us. Whether we're providing the soundtrack to a relaxed afternoon or getting a room singing along, we want the music to feel natural, enjoyable and right for the occasion.
Angie
Angie’s musical journey started early, when she received her first keyboard at just three years old and began teaching herself to play by following numbers on the keys. At six, she began studying with a professional jazz pianist, continuing lessons with him for the next ten years. Singing soon became a natural part of playing, and by 14 she was performing in her first school band.
At 15, Angie wrote her first song, and a year later joined a professional wedding and events band as a singer and keyboard player, performing French songs and traditional musette. Along the way she experimented with saxophone, accordion, guitar and bass, although keyboards have always remained her first musical home.
As life and work became busier, there was less time for music, but the passion never really disappeared. A new chapter began when Angie moved to the Vienne in 2023. She returned to the stage, initially performing solo and later appearing as a guest with other musicians — and in 2024, after a long break, she also rediscovered her love of songwriting.
Today, alongside keyboards and vocals, Angie has returned to guitar, bass and whistle, bringing that versatility to Duo Cadence — and continuing a musical journey that, in truth, never really stopped.
Ken
Ken came to music relatively late, teaching himself guitar at 30 after being inspired by musicians he saw playing in folk clubs in the UK. Within six weeks he was playing; within six months he was singing with an Irish band, performing at weddings, events and venues.
His musical tastes have always been broad, and today he plays guitar, 12-string guitar and ukulele. He has also turned his hand to songwriting, writing a couple of songs of his own along the way. Like Angie, work and life eventually left less time for music, particularly after moving to France in 2010, but in recent years he found his way back to performing
Playing with Angie has brought something different. Despite their different musical backgrounds, there’s an instinctive understanding between them — a connection that has become central to the sound of Duo Cadence.
A Musical Kinship
Angie and Ken come from different musical backgrounds, but when they play together there’s an instinctive understanding between them.
That connection gives Duo Cadence its relaxed, natural feel. Rather than simply playing through a setlist, they listen to each other, respond to the room and let the music breathe.
It’s this musical kinship that sits at the heart of Duo Cadence — familiar songs, two individual musicians and a sound that feels very much their own.
